La Factoría are a Panamanian reggaeton and reggae en español group, formed in 1999 in Panama City and fronted for years by the singer Demphra. They were a significant part of the early Panamanian urbano scene, but to the wider streaming world they are defined by one tender hit.
"Perdóname", a reggaeton slow jam featuring the singer Eddy Lover, became their signature, a much-loved plea-for-forgiveness duet that endured as a Latin radio and party staple long after its release. Nothing else in their catalogue reached the same audience.
On streaming, "Perdóname" sits near 809 million plays, while their next most-streamed track, "Moriré", trails at around 106 million. That puts the ratio above 7, past our 5.0 line.
By our measure La Factoría are a certified one-hit wonder, with a caveat for a group with real importance in their regional scene. Their place in the history of Panamanian reggaeton is larger than the global numbers suggest, but on streams one enduring, romantic duet has come to stand far ahead of everything else they made. For a generation of Latin listeners, that one song is the sound of an entire era.
